  • Roasted burgers & Potatoes

VIDEO - Roasted burgers and potatoes

This is not the prettiest dish, but it is probably in the top 5 for most Greek children. Simplicity and good ingredients is what elevates this “humble” dish.

  • Koulouri Thessalonikis

VIDEO - Traditional Greek sesame bagel. It is a typical breakfast snack for Greeks. It is great on its own, but also commonly consumed with cream cheese.

  • American Pancakes

American Pancakes with butter and maple syrup - VIDEO*

It is a quick and easy recipe that you can make with your children on a Sunday morning.

  • Cheesecake

Cheesecake with vanilla and blackberry sauce

Fluffy, creamy and delicious cheesecake. Not too sweet, just enough. Perfect accompany to your afternoon coffee

  • Club Sandwich

Club sandwich with chicken, bacon and cheese, served with crispy baked baby potatoes and sauce - VIDEO*

Club sandwich for those who don't know is an upgraded sandwich, as it contains 3 slices of bread, with double the filling. Of course there is no one way to make this. This is how I make it

  • The 12 hour Lamb

As today is Easter and traditionally in Greece we eat lamb, I will show you how to make a 12 hour slow roast lamb that just melts in your mouth. I served mine with aubergine puree, baked baby potatoes, roast red peppers, tzatziki sauce and a crispy parmesan disc. The recipe for the lamb is inspired by my father, you can see his recipe at the bottom of this page.

  • Mushroom soup (Magiritsa)

    Mushroom soup with greens (Magiritsa)

Traditionally Magiritsa is prepared in Greece, but instead of mushrooms, with Lamb offal. Magititsa is the Easter soup, which is eaten on Easter Eve right after church to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and to break the fast which lasted for 40 days. The next day on Easter Sunday nearly every household spin roasts a whole lamb. The Magirtisa version I will show you is a vegetarian version that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

  • Theo's Stir-fry

Theo's stir fry with vegetables and King Prawns - VIDEO*

This is a suprisingly quick dish to prepare with endless variations. This can be prepared with any leftovers you have in the fridge. This is how I make it

  • Broccoli and Cauliflower salad

This is a really quick and healthy salad that will accompany great any meat or fish dish.

We all love a cheesy, creamy cauliflower baked in the oven, but we don’t need to add cream and cheese to make it tasty. Here is how it is done

  • Spaghetti Meatballs

This is a classic Italian dish, that everybody looks forward to. This is my interpretation.

  • Crepes with chocolate

This is a really fast, simple and delicious snack to prepare in the morning. Kids love it and there are no rules as to what you can put in your crepes.

  • Stuffed Mushrooms

I absolutely love mushrooms in any shape or form. Once combined with cream and cheese you have a heavenly blend. This is a great appetizer that will definitely impress your family and friends. I used Forestiere mushrooms, but really most mushrooms will do the trick.

  • Greek Salad

    Greek salad, Horiatiki - VIDEO*

Today the time has changed. We are officially heading towards summer. It is time to eat more and more Greek salads. This is a very easy salad to make and everyone should know how to make it.

  • Giouvarlakia

Giouvarlakia – Meat ball soup with egg and lemon sauce

Today I will show you how to make Giouvarlakia, which is a Greek recipe. It consists of meatballs with rice and the soup is finished with an avgolemono (egg and lemon) sauce. It is definitely considered a comfort dish.

  • Galactobouriko

Galaktobourico, filo pastry stuffed with semolina custard, soaked in lemon and honey syrup

This is by far my favourite Greek desert. It is really rich and sweet and the best way to have it is warm. This is not my recipe, but there is nothing I could fault with the recipe from Akis Petretzikis. The secret for success in this recipe is the quality of the butter, the eggs and the filo pastry.

  • Lentil Soup

    Lentil Soup

Living in the UK, I notice that everywhere you go they serve blended soup in a cup. I can understand the convenience for people who want to have it on the go, but sometimes you just need to spend a bit more time enjoying your food. This is a chunky, healthy and relatively quick soup to prepare.

  • Chicken Wrap

Chicken fillet wrap with roast peppers

This is a quick and easy solution for a snack. It is inspired by Greek gyros which I will make some other time. The recipe below can be made with either chicken breast or thigh fillets, or a mixture of both. I used Greek pitas which are thicker and softer than the ones you find in supermarkets. You should be able to get these in any Greek Deli.

  • Mexican Tacos

Mexican Tacos with mince beef, guacamole and salsa

A typical Mexican dish. There are countless of varieties and options in regards to the filling. It is definitely a sharing dish ideal for parties. This is my interpretation.
